Designing and Creating Great Apron Patterns Just Became Too Much Fun !

It's time to give aprons their due! (And inside I'll show you great apron patterns that will celebrate the importance of aprons in our daily lives.)

Aprons are more than just a piece of fabric, something to wipe dirty hands on or an item for the dog to lick because it tastes like dinner. If you're like me, you'll recognize aprons for what they are: a lifelong treasure with remnants of family dinners and hugs from the kids.

How I Got Into Aprons

I started drawing apron patterns because it seemed like fun. As it turned out, it IS fun!

My first pattern was a simple white apron painted with a lovely bouquet of flowers. I called it, "The Rose Garden." My next was a cooking apron,a little breakfast number I named "Bacon and Eggs."

The Promise, pictured to the right, has the materials and instructions available. Look under vintage aprons.

Sure, vintage aprons are available at online auction sites, but why would you want one? (Unless of course you're a museum curator.) I say learn how to make an apron and create your own lifelong treasure. Dare to wear it instead of stuffing it in a drawer. Heck, let them wonder where the stains came from! I'd rather laugh drinking great tea out of a chipped china cup, than cry when it slips out of the cupboard and crashes to the ground having never been used.

Inside you'll find that all of the aprons are made from scratch with some vintage heirlooms pieces thrown in. Material lists are included with the instructions.Recent additions include a few styles for your daughters or granddaughters, and I am currently working on an artists smock for toddlers as well as some plus size styles.

Enjoy ! see you soon
